Carl E. Upthegrove
Carl is an experienced financial professional with a background that spans financial management from day to day accounting through complex business analysis. All with a recognition that the accounting and finance functions of a business do not exist in a vacuum they must support the business and be an integral part of the achievement of the business goals.
Since starting his consulting firm in 2005 Carl has been helping small and medium sized companies in the Bay Area in a variety of situations. From short term specialized engagements including account reconciliation, inventory valuation, audit preparation, profitability analysis, period close cash flow management and others to the full controller function managing all day to day accounting activities.
Carl began his career as an accountant with a small 'data processing' firm in Southern California. After relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area he joined Carnation as plant controller in Oakland where he managed day to day accounting until his transfer to the corporate offices in Los Angeles.
After Nestle acquired Carnation Carl's interest in and experience with computers and computer systems was put to use leading a project to implement the Nestle costing system in CarnationŐs facilities. This led to a move to the Nestle World Headquarters in Vevey Switzerland where Carl joined a multi-national team charged with the selection of a new computer system to support the costing methodology used in Nestle facilities worldwide.
Shortly after his return to the United States Carl left Nestle and joined a software company working 10 years in the software industry for companies such as Marcam, American Software, PeopleSoft and Autodesk. As a consultant and project manager Carl had the opportunity to broaden his experience working with a wide variety of clients in various industries.
Carl graduated from Cal-State Hayward with a degree in accounting and holds an MBA also from California State University.
